Human Factors is an experimental documentary exploring the relationships between health/care workers and the patients they will encounter, the performance of professionalism, care, and capacity for the management of trauma both past and future, personal and institutional. Winner of the Paul Watson Prize, awarded by Goldsmiths University, and an official selection for the German Ethnographic International Film Festival 2024.

Produced and directed by Anna Dobos, in collaboration with Goldsmiths University (Anthropology Department), Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Casualties Union, and Lifecast Bodysim, with further research participation with PEARL UCL (Person Environment Activity Research Laboratory).

 

I Thank My Mother For My Hair is one of the films we are most proud of: a no budget passion project of immense trust and vulnerability that has gone to garner a notable list of credits, features, screenings and a licensing deal with ITV's Planet Woo.

RAGE is an anti-fashion film highlighting the frustrations and opportunities within the fashion industry. A collaboration between Somewhere Films and bleaq, a fashion collective aiming to champion independent, sustainable, and ethical designers.

 

Anna also directs, shoots and edits primarily short form documentary projects, often with Somerset House, where she completed the Filmmaker in Residence programme for the 2022-23 year. She also has a keen interest in research based documentary and hybrid docu-fiction.

Monstrosity & Glamour | Jenkin Van Zyl

This experimental film unpacks artist Jenkin Van Zyl’s unique artworks, exhibition design and approach to making. Seeking to displace binaries through instability, deviance and multiple selves, his video works and installations reflect his fascination with the macabre. The monstrous is key to Jenkin's work as he hopes to 'merge and reconfigure repulsion into something beautiful'. Commissioned by Somerset House Trust. Directed, Shot and Edited by Anna Dobos.
